Sandustry Multiplayer — Status, Community Demand, and Why It's Single-Player
Sandustry does not ship with a multiplayer or cooperative mode. The developer built it as a strictly single-player experience, and there are no official plans to add online play during Early Access.

Current status
Sandustry is single-player only. There is no online service, no matchmaking, no co-op, and no shared-world mode in the current build. Every Steam purchase is a single-seat license and every save is local.
Why Sandustry is single-player
Sandustry simulates every pixel — sand grains, water drops, snow flakes, slag pieces, copper chunks — as an independent physical entity. Replicating that across two or more players would require a fully deterministic simulation state, which the game currently lacks.
Even a basic co-op build would have to keep every client's simulation bit-identical for the entire session. A single desync — a different frame timing, a floating-point rounding, a late network packet — would cascade through the pixel physics and break both clients.
What players are asking for
On Steam Community Discussions, a co-op mode is one of the most-requested features. Opinion on technical feasibility is mixed: most players want it badly, while a smaller group of technical readers point out that determinism has to be solved before anything ships.
Developer plans during Early Access
There are no official plans to add multiplayer support during the Early Access phase. Lantto Games has been focused on content, balance, and bug fixes. If multiplayer ever ships, it would come as a post-1.0 update, not an Early Access patch.
FAQ
Will Sandustry get multiplayer?
Not during Early Access. The developer has no official plans to add it in this phase. If a co-op or shared-world mode ever ships, expect it as a post-1.0 update.
Is there co-op in Sandustry?
No. There is no split-screen co-op, no online co-op, no shared-world mode, and no matchmaking. Every save is single-player.
Why is multiplayer so hard to add?
Sandustry's physics simulation runs every pixel as an independent entity. A co-op build would need a fully deterministic simulation state — every client's frame has to match bit-for-bit. The game does not have that today, and players on Steam Community Discussions have called this the main blocker.
Are there 'multiplayer trainers' for Sandustry?
Tools marketed as Sandustry multiplayer trainers are misleading — the game has no multiplayer and no anti-cheat to bypass. The legitimate trainers covered on the Cheats page are single-player tools.
